Red Eri Cocoon
Eri Silk Yarn comes from the caterpillar of Samia cynthia ricini, found in Northeast India. Known locally as Endi or Errandi, this wild silk is unique to India and produced between October and January. The name “Eri” is derived from the Assamese word era (castor), as the silkworm feeds on castor plants.
Often called the fabric of peace, Eri silk can be processed into Ahimsa silk when harvested without harming the silkworms. The moths naturally leave the cocoon, which is then spun into yarn. Eri is the only completely domesticated silkworm other than Bombyx mori.
Available in 250g, 500g, 1kg, and 2kg packs, in Natural Red color. This yarn is prized for its woolly texture, warmth, and cultural heritage, making it ideal for weaving and garment production.
